Ottlite Information Needed

Ottlite
In the next couple of weeks I am thinking of purchasing an Ottlite product but I am not sure which lamp/bulb to get for the purposes I will use it for.  Any comments on your experience with this product and how you use it would be much appreciated!
My intended uses are:  I would like to work in my jewelry/craft studio at night, but currently can not because no matter what lighting I use, it is just too dark and shadowy (is that a word?)...I would also like to take photos of my items whenever I like, rather than wait for a sunny day...I need close up light and whole room light.  Would a floor lamp be good enough or would I need a desk lamp also...what size bulbs...is there high definition lighting?

Any information you would like to comment on would be greatly appreciated!!!

www.southwestskyjewelry.etsy.com

Native American Kokopelli
Dancer Symbol

Kokopelli, also known as "the Hump Backed Flute Player" and/or "the Mythical Piper of the Native American Southwest", has drawn from both ancient and modern influences.

In Native American culture, Kokopelli presides
over both childbirth and agriculture. Two tribes, Pueblo and Hopi Indians believe Kokopelli brings happiness and fertility to all who hear his flute playing.

The Kokopelli is often depicted with animal companions such as rams and deer, snakes, or water-loving animals like lizards and insects, because one Native American belief is that the Kokopelli presides over the reproduction of game animals.

Kokopelli is important to this culture for his domain over agriculture also. It is believed that the Kokopelli's
fluteplaying chases away the Winter and brings on Spring. Kokopelli is associated with rains and maize grinding ceremonies. Some tribes say he carries seeds and babies on his back.

Kokopelli, (often incorporated in jewelry items), continues to be one of the most easily recognized figures from
ancient and modern Native American and Southwestern Culture.

Today my Featured Item is a Beautiful Vintage Sterling Kokopelli Dancers Necklace

Description:
Vintage Sterling Silver Southwestern Kokopelli Dancers Link Necklace. Marked "STERLING".

What is a Native American Naja?

The Naja used in Native American jewelry design is a crescent shape which was possibly first seen by Native Americans on Spanish Horses. The Naja was worn as a decorative chest piece on the Spaniards' horses.

As the Navajo became very skilled silversmiths,the Naja became a very popular symbol done in silver work. Turquoise and coral was also incorporated into their Naja designs, along with hand tooled Native American symbols.

Contemporary Navajo art still includes the Naja symbol and is very sought after, especially by collectors.

Ever Wonder What Spiny Oyster Is?

Spiny Oyster
"One of the most popular shells used in Native American Jewelry is Spiny Oyster Shell.
Spiny Oyster shells are found in the Sea of Cortez, off the coast of the Baja Mexico and Baja California.
They are prized for their brilliant colors (purple, orange, red and yellow) which blends nicely with turquoise.
The Spiny Oyster shell has been used for adornment since ancient times and artifacts have been found in the sites of the
Aztecs, Anasazi, Mogollon and Hohokam".

I love the creamy orange color...it is a beautiful compliment to turquoise!

I have used spiny oyster and turquoise beads in this bracelet:

My Sheltie

March 3, 2010...This is my sheltie "Kenna". She is intently watching out my front window because there are about 5 men and tons of equipment taking down 2 big dead trees in my front yard. She sat there all morning keeping on eye on them and only barked when they came and left. Of course, as anyone knows that owns a sheltie, my husband and I are her "herd" and having 5 men in our yard all morning was very concerning to Kenna!

How To Make A Beaded Necklace...

 SOLD
Necklace How To:
Instructions:

Things You'll Need:
* Tigertail or nylon flexible wire
* Sterling Silver clasp
* Sterling Silver Jump ring
* Crimping pliers
* Sterling Silver Crimp beads
* Bead board
* Wire cutter
* Turquoise beads
* Matching spacer or seed beads

Step 1
Plan your necklace design. Use a bead board to determine the length of your necklace. These boards can be found at any jewelry supply or crafts store.

Step 2
Cut the tigertail or flexible wire so that it is long enough for a finished necklace. This should be about 20 to 25 inches depending on the length that you want.

Step 3
Take one end of the wire and slide it through the loop of a lobster-claw sterling silver clasp, then take the wire that is attached to the clasp, and slide it through a sterling silver crimp bead, (I used a toggle clasp instead of a lobster claw clasp-you can use either). Tighten the wire slightly, then use crimping pliers to flatten the crimp bead into the wire so that the end of the necklace stays in place. Cut excess wire if necessary.

Step 4
String large turquoise gemstone beads onto your wire. Use smaller matching spacer beads or seed beads as spacers in between your necklace design if you wish. This adds to the finished professional look.

Step 5
Add the sterling silver jump ring to the other end of your necklace after you've finished stringing the beads. Follow the instructions for Step 3 above. Put on the necklace by attaching the lobster claw to the jump ring.
